FOCUS OUTCOME
The KLA other than English that we have chosen is HSIE and the focus outcome for our integrated unit on Celebrations is:-

CUS2.4 Describes different viewpoints, ways of living, languages, and belief systems in a variety of communities (Cultural Diversity)

MULTIMODAL TEXT
The multimodal text that the students will create and present at the conclusion of this integrated unit of work is a poster. The students will work collaboratively in small groups to research and prepare a poster about a particular cultural celebration which their group has been allocated. The poster needs to include elements such as what type of food is eaten during this celebration, any special clothes that are worn, the signficance and meaning of this celebration, and any particular music which is significant to this celebration. The poster also needs to consider the key grammatical features of an information report, which they have been focusing on during this unit of work (including factual and classifying adjectives, relating and action verbs and present tense) and must also consider what they have learnt during visual literacy to prepare an informative and engaging poster.

Students will be allocated time in class to research their celebration on the computer and to use books from the school library and will also be given time to complete their poster. In the final lesson, each group will present their poster to the class. The posters will then be displayed around the classroom.
